Matthew D. Skinta, Ph.D., ABPP, is a board-certified clinical health psychologist and director of Palo Alto University’s Sexual & Gender Identities Clinic. His primary approach to treatment is through contextual behavioral therapies; he is a peer-reviewed trainer of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and a certified trainer of Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. His past research and clinical work have focused on the impact of stigma and shame on health behaviors and HIV. He recently served on the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Psychology and AIDS, which he chaired in 2015 and 2016. His book, Mindfulness and Acceptance for Gender and Sexual Minorities, was released in fall 2016.
