California Peace Officers’ Association Celebrates 100 Years of Service
This year, the California Peace Officers’ Association (CPOA) celebrates its 100th year! CPOA, established in 1921, is committed to developing progressive leadership for the California law enforcement community through organizational networking, professional development, technology advancement, and public policy advocacy. CPOA has over 16,000 members of all ranks from municipal, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the state of California.
This month, Courageous Heart‘s Chief Robert Jonsen was invited to deliver the first session of CPOA’s Virtual Advance program, which took place online from September 1-17. This two-hour introductory training outlined core elements of Courageous Heart training to law enforcement personnel statewide.
Courageous Heart training was designed to help law enforcement personnel gain valuable tools and practices designed for combating stress, improving resiliency, enhancing well-being, and reducing implicit bias. It is an evidence-based program that imparts that every officer can live a healthy life (physically, mentally, and emotionally), while serving their communities to the best of their ability. This training can have positive cascading effects for the residents and communities served by law enforcement agencies.
